A Cheesy Gospel Analogy

On the very last night of EasterCamp before the start of the main meeting Mike ran up to me and told me to follow him. He took me to around so that I could see the edge of the crowd where a large perimeter fence had been set up in a circle. He told me to lean on his shoulder so that I could see what was held within the perimeter fence and to tell him what I could see. Perplexed I did as I was told. I could see a digger in the circle and said as much. He prompted me and asked what else I could see. I gazed oblivious until suddenly I noticed that there was a caravan in the circle which I commented on. Mike grinned at me happily as I put 2 and 2 together to get ... Digger demolishing Caravan!!!!! :D Oh the joy. I quickly went and found one of my mates from Westchurch and told him to follow me. I asked what he could see in the circle. He saw the digger and the caravan and sat there looking perplexed. I waited expectantly as the penny dropped. His eyes lit up. Quickly both of us ran back to Westchurch and grabbed 2 more of our mates to share the good news.

Afterwards it struck me that this is the way I should be about Jesus. It was just a simple caravan being trashed by a digger. Whereas the Good News that I have to share is about God and His love. While I quickly went to grab all mates to show them a digger and a caravan I am less prepared to grab my friends to show them God.

Anyway there is only so much cheese a body can handle. God bless and good night.

Christ on a Cross, a Reason for Living?

On the hill of Calvary stands a man he peers this way and that. Now searching the sky, now pondering the ground. I come to him and ask what he is searching for? He replies, 'I was told there was a Christ on a Cross and that this was the way to Salvation.' I shake my head and tell him, 'There is no longer a Christ on a Cross. He got down.'
'Does this mean that there is no longer a way to salvation?' he asks.
'By no means in fact a Christ on a cross could never provide a way to salvation though at the head of the way stands the abandoned Cross. '

A man might keep a dead man's commands and his ways but no one would keep the commands of a man they had never met and who had died before the birth of their grandparents. Only someone who is alive can expect their commands to be obeyed and followed through.

Gospel and Film

As some of you are aware I am doing a course this year called Gospel and Film (hence the title of this post). As part of this course we are required to watch a movie each week. Understandably this is an arduous task which the class complains greviously about. Anyway below is a list of the movies I will be compelled to watch and the weekend that I will be watching them. The location will probably be the H.o.h Town (previously known as the W Flat).

Weekend Movie
March 18-20 Spiderman 2
March 28 Shawshank Redemption
April 1-3 Return of the King
April 8-10 Truman Show
April 15-May 1 Motorcycle Diaries [?]
May 6-29 Vigil
June 3-5 Came a Hot Friday
June 10-12 Whale Rider

The period from April 15-May 1 are the BCNZ holidays. The period from May 6-29 is a random mid-Semester break in lectures. Motorcycle Diaries will be watched only if it has came out on video by the time we are required to watch it.
